Hi all,

I have a weird clicking/tapping noise coming from the rear of the car whilst towing.
I can't see where it could be coming from?

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

Thanks

Hi Nathan,Assuming the obvious, that it is hitched correctly, that the tow ball is seated if it is removable and that all the bolts etc are tight, then the only other thing I can think is that the noise is coming from the van.
My hitch creaks at low speeds when changing direction and the ATC makes all sorts of whirring noises when first connected, but not when towing.
Sorry can't think of anything else that could cause noises, let us know if and when you solve the problem.

Hi Nathan if you have an alkostabilizer on your caravan make sure your towball is free from grease/ paint as it contaminates the pads on the hitch and that can cause some noise

Hi, My last car had a new towbar fitted and as mentioned it creaked when turning. It turned out to be the frictionpads on the stabiliser on the towball. The towball was anodised and when I changed it for a alko one,it stopped the creaking.
