Towbar & Warranty

Hi,
Got my Antara booked into have a Witter towbar fitted on the 16th May. But I have a warranty question regarding this.

The fitter said that the Universal electrics will not void the warranty and that he does work for the local VX dealer all the time. Rather than have the dedicated VX electrics.

With me not being happy with this I contacted the other VX dealers to check on the warranty status. They said that if the fitter cut into the electrics and after if there were any issue and I took to a VX dealer they would say this was the cause etc.

Will the fitter need to cut into the electrics or will theUniversal Electrics plug in?

Thanks

AC

I was told the standard electrics were just cut into lights wiring.

I decided to purchase the dedicated electrics and detachable towbar and fit them myself saving a few hundred quid.
I don't mind paying as I am not very mechanically minded, but what I don't want is to find out later down the road that I have revoked my warranty.
Depends on how the fitter taps in to the harness. My Antara is a 2013 model and the harness just plugs in, no need for cutting. I think that this facility is not available on the earlier models.

Assuming he uses the harness. When I got some quotes the fitter intended using the wiring at the lights.
Mine is a 2014 model so a guess should just plug in. But tbh I gonna play it safe and go for the dedicated option.

Wise move as using the dedicated electrics means the trailer light on dash works and if you have the 4x4 it operates the trailer stability control.

Mine is also 2014 and your correct it just plugs under the rear offside above the exhaust.
