The eco button

So when do
you use your eco button? <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I've got a
184 auto and it seems to me that whenever I use mine all that happens is a nice
little green light comes on to tell me I've just pushed the button, a loss of
power and my average MPG falls!!!

I can't see
the point of it on an auto. I think I'm right in saying that on the manual it's
to do with the start/stop but the auto clearly doesn't have that so why is it
there and when do you use yours and do you find it makes any difference?

As you say on the manual it does the start stop.

On the auto it apparently changes the lock up point of torque convertor and when the auto box will change gear.
Like you the difference i notice seems to be lack of power so you floor it more and economy drops :)
I leave the ECO button all the time. I only turn it off when I need a bit of extra power, usually for overtaking. I'm not heavy on the gas in normal driving, I find my MPG drops by a couple when driving with it off.
For my normal driving there is plenty of power with the ECO button on.
I have a manual and have mastered the two finger lunge to open the mirrors and turn off the eco every time I start.
