Yes, and I used to have a complete set of the free maps that theygave away when you filled up, 4s & 11d per gallon, those were the days. 1965 to be precise.

No never owned a Moggie, drove a Riley Elf, an upmarket mini with rear wings, walnut dash but more importantly a larger engine. Took it all the way upto John o' Groats in 1966 and along the north coast great fun, still had single track roads and no bridges in those days.

Only if you can remember the time when we had a British motorcar industry, and I suspect that north of the border that must be the Hillman Imp.

Ah yes, no black boxes orelectronics and garage mechanics who did not have to rely on a computer to tell them what was not working.




This is my bit of nostalgia









Not quite as clean as it should be







But fun all the same.



For the eagle eyed yes that is a Lucas voltage regulator and yes it does have an alternator, it's just that removing the black box leaves holes in the bulkhead.

Yep 1.25 SUs and 1275cc of undiluted non turbo charged A seriespower.And the best thing of is it's tax free AND does not have a DPF!!

Oh and there are no dealers to say 'they all do that sir'
