No real need for running in anymore. Just dont strain the vehicle with too high revs and all will be good.
I towed our van 200 miles when it was a week old and no problems.

I ALWAYS run in my cars and I always will do, I certainly won't listen to a car sales person who doesn't know one end of the car from the other. I always take it easy for 1000 miles. Find out what revs the car does in top gear at 70MPH and that is the ball park revs you don't go over in any gear. Also no labouring the engine either, that is even worse than revving. Do the same with my motorbikes too.

As for towing a caravan in a brand new car...I wouldn't even dream of it before a thousand miles. But each to their own, it's your money and your car.

I agree with that. Manufacturing techniques have come along way,but still all the moving parts should be bedded in. From 0 miles neveruse high revs or full acceleration if at all possible.

diesel engines will start to free up after 10,000 miles (yes 10,000) due to the fact that diesel oil is a lubricant (although not as good as it used to be).

Itsprobably a personal thing, but it certainly would not harm the engine/gearbox.

I bought my antara diamand 163bhp brand new march 28th this year, and towed my caravan the next day, keep it in LOW revs, and do NOT trash the engine, sofa alls well done 5000 miles to date.

I find this car is an excellent tow car, the car and caravan weighs 3.8000kg;s
