Pretty good review

I know this is an old review, but it is fair and balanced, and some of the criticisms have already been addressed. Worth a read.

hi Phil, it is quit a fair review but one part i do not agree with is that the auto gear box is slow to pick up i just don't find that in this car i would say my husbands automatic is slower in the Captiva and that his has more wind noise than mine Captiva. Safety was another another factor for purchasing the Antara as it has loads of air bags and a EuroNcap rating of 5 the rest i totally agree with
There is alot of people with diffrent veiws on cars' but I think its down to each person when looking for a car. We all different when choosing what we like and don't. I for one can't afford a new car so look for a good second hand one, brought a Kia sorento after reading reveiws on thiscar as I tow a caravan as well, it did tow well but just hated the car, don't know why just did.Only had it 6 months then changedit to theAntara, it's a 2009 2lt 150bhp diesel auto , as for the auto box I don't think its slow in changing, when I brought the carI had a full service, cambelt and auto fluid changed to make sure all's well for towinghad it about 8 months now, so far very pleased with it and love driving it. Haven't towed with it yet due to broken anklebut hoping to soon may change my mined again after towing so we well have to see. I did have it remapped to improve the torqueand fuel.So to the car make up your own minds when buying a car you'll love it or hate it only you can diecide as for me

I did some research before I purchased my Antara and could not find an NCAP result, because its not been tested. The Captiva has a 4* rating. correct me if I'm wrong.

Hi the Captiva received 5 star rating in October 2011 as for the Antara you could Be right, but I will as hubby in the morning as he is snoring like a bloody Rhinoceros

Yeh but its a Captiva!
Yes a fair / balanced review only error I spotted was the mention of a spare tyre being included . Not sure exactly when they opted for the compressor over the spare tyre but mine is a 61 plate and they had already done away with the spare wheel ?
I think they probably tested an Opel badged one at the euro launch in Scotland, where most of the reviews stem from, so there will be some spec differences. It also talks about the old sat nav unit, being awkward (which it was, I had the same one in an Astra).

I think the older nav implementation was neater, just having the one big screen at the top. Having two (different colour) screens, seems a bit of a clunky solution to me, but I suppose it enables several sets of info at the same time.

My mistake my husband thought it was but he was taking the results that the Captiva had as it is the sister car and had all the same features including the chassis
