Quite a few weeks ago when I acquired my Vauxhall Antara 2 L CDTI 2008 I posted a message on this forum asking for advice relating to erratic fuel readings and incorrect mileage range as well as non-functioning front and rear window washers and BC not retaining the current date when set. Anyway my question is this, after working on an unrelated issue and leaving the battery disconnected for over an hour, after reconnecting the battery I discovered that I was able to set and store the current date and the milage range and fuel reading seemed accurate so I was wondering whether or not the battery was not exactly the right one for this vehicle and if so could this be reason reason I am having some of these issues? Unfortunately after I had been driving for awhile the fuel level readings became erratic again and the previously stored correct date had reverted back to factory default.

It could be, its a definite possibility. I had a problem on an xf which burnt my alternator out and caused spurious ECU faults, it also caused a smell of burning which was probably the new alternator. A new battery solved these problems.

Considering your problems I would definately start with a new battery. Doesn't always make sense but their you go. Richy
