Hi All

I bought an Antara 2012 (2.2 SE) in December. Since then it’s been in and out of the garage I bought it from. It needed a new manifold cover & Air flow pipe which have now been done.

I’ve had my car back less than a week now and I have the following issue. Both issues occurred at different points while waiting for the manifold cover - so the problem was put down to that…. Clearly it isn’t.

1. The engine with the arrow light comes on. Not all the time or on every drive, and goes off when the car stops. It comes on alongside the service light and a beep.

2. There is a massive drop in instant fuel consumption - when this happens and the car is stopped and engine turned off, it sounds like fans or something are kicking on under bonnet. The ā€˜fans’ stay on for around 60 seconds. As above, this isn’t every journey.

No actual loss in power. No limp mode etc. I don’t know if the two issues are linked.

I have contact my garage again, but I’m guessing as it’s so intermittent a diagnosis thing won’t find anything, so any ideas for me to relay back would be gratefully received :)

Thank you - Kelly.

Hello Kelly,
Welcome to the forum. This is quite a topic of discussion - if you search this forum for 'DPF' you should find a lot of info.

Essentially the car is cleaning itself when that light comes on (which entails a lot of fuel dumping into the exhaust system) Really you should continue driving with the revs at around 2000 until the light goes out, to ensure that the cleaning process has finished - it does get rather hot when doing this so the fans will start-up and run for a while once the car has stopped.

Tom.
