Paint job

Had a search on this "fault", but apart from the rusty tailgate nothing similar.
After washing our car on Sunday I noted that some of the paint on the roof is damaged. It is what I would describe as "crackled" and appears to have slight pulled apart from itself.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar ?

I tried to photograph it, but it doesn't really show up (within the red box):

So it's a trip to the main stealership for them to check and see if it's a warranty job.

Unfortunately our nearest stealership doesn't have a body shop, so it's a trip further afield for Anna.

Will keep this updated with outcome.

I had something similar a few years ago, on a different car, when I got some seagull crap on the roof. Unfortunately I didn't notice it at the time and by the time I washed it off it had left a sort of crackled paint surface as if you had painted over a patch of oil or grease.
Yes have to agree with Inchindown probably bird crap etching the paint. Its more noticeable on dark paint.
Bird poo need to wash it off right away, or else it' marks the car,you can get stuff for it will ask hubby what it is,

Was what I was thinking it was. Sadly would have occured when it was the demo car at the stealership.

Unfortunately I didn't really check the roof when we bought it (lesson learned), so will probbaly have to lump it. At leats no one sees it, unless they're 7 foot tall.

Knowing our luck VX will insist on a respray to keep the paint warranty valid

Would have thought after all the yearsfrom switching to water based paint they'd have developed something a bit more resistant to damage from bird droppings/tree sap etc...

Why not try somebody like 'Chips Away' ? There are plenty of franchised operators all over the UK and I believe they will give you a free quote?

A good suggestion, we might well use such a service.

It'd be good if VX would do it under warranty (probably doubtful).

My concern is more I take it in to see if they will do the work and they don't, but say it must be done for the paintwork warranty to remain valid and must be done by their bodyshop.

Will have to cross that one if/when it comes to it.
