I would like to introduce myself,my name is Tony Burns,I live in Norfolk and am a caravan engineer, and I have an Antara diamond white 4x4 (2014) modeL,prior to this I had a misubishi animal l200. I tow a twin axle Bailey senator caravan which is just under the limit and the antara tows it no problem, I would like to point out I am a very experienced tower, the only issue I have had is clutch smell on reversing like several of your members but also in the 5 months I have owned the car the particulate light on the dash has come on twice, both times whilst towing,it hasn't affected the towing performance of the car and soon cleared itself, apart From that I have no complaints at all.

Welcome to the forum.

Nice to hear your views thanks for posting.
Hi and welcome Tony Burns, after leaving British Gas I was a Caravan Service Engineer for three and a half years,in fact I am still qualified but had to give it due to a knee op earlier this year.i think the Antara is a great tow car and was first introduced to it by customers bringing there caravans for service and since then ive been hooked.
Hi Cadds
Thanks for the welcome,I've been a caravan engineer for about 11 years but always towed with freelander or Mitsubishi ,when I got my antara I couldn't believe how comfy it is, I got the lifetime warranty offer but one of my customers who is waiting for his new antara has told me that vauxhall are withdrawing it and going back to a 60,000 mile warranty, I don't know if it is true and I certainly don't want to be the cause of starting rumours but I wonder if you or anyone else has heard anything as I don't have anything from vauxhall in writing and I wouldn't like to think they would rename on the deal if anything went wrong?
Yes that's right,it is going back to the three year warranty, think there may be an option to purchase an extended warranty though,i was lucky and got the lifetime warranty.
Welcome to the club Tony Burns. I have the same model in smoke grey had it 16 months and only had the dpf light on once.
Hi Tony and welcome , I to have had issues with the clutch only when reversing with caravan . I tend to use the motormover for manoeuvring the caravan onto a pitch . I have had several DPF issues and suspect still have an ongoing EGR issue . The Antara is a capable tow vehicle , not particularly economic but plenty of power / torque . It's definately more comfortable and better handling than a L200 but doubt it will prove as reliable ? Mine is 3 years old (28,000miles ) and just had sump and timing chain gaskets replaced :-(
Hello allJust joined the Forum,so this is my 1st post which i will probably make a complete hash of.
Bought my Antara new last year from a local dealer. overall very pleased with the car. One thing that drives me bonkers however is its stop/start technology. As soon as i start the car the 1st thing i do is turn it off.
Its only my view but the person who invented it should be put in front of a firing squad and shot.

Hi and welcome,i turn my stop/start off as soon as I get in the car especially if I am towing,i might be old fashioned but I prefer a normal handbrake as well, must admit I do like the car and had no trouble with it.

Hello Mista H welcome to the club.It all depends how you use it. I don't have it on mine but a couple of hire cars I have had had the stop start on them. They were both automatic and worked off the brakes, never had any problem with the stop start. Didn't use them for towing
I have no problem with the stop/start, even when towing. Anything that saves fuel has to be good, it does concern me though that the starter may wear out too soon. Still hate the electronic handbrake, it just does not seem to understand smooth!
