My Sat Nav has started talking to me?

Now I know it says things like "Turn right in 200 yards". But out of the blue and I mean totally out of the blue it has started saying things like DANGER!! A61 closed due to burst water pipes. And do you know, it was!

A few miles later is said something else completely random. I was so surprised that I forgot what it said. But I didn't have nav set, it was just running traffic alerts in the background. It has not been to the dealer. I have not uploaded anything by an SD card. It's just as it was when it came from the dealer. I have had it a year and just coming up on 20k so it's not even been for a service yet.

Now I am hoping it's going to start saying things like, "Handsome as you are, you are ready for a hair cut. Barbers 500 yards on the left"

"Is that your tummy rumbling, turn right in one mile for a delicious McDonalds you're early for that meeting anyway"

It has never said anything like this before, ever. I have to go to York in the morning so I shall see what other pearls of wisdom she comes up with.

Does anyone else's say stuff like this? It was a bit unnerving to be honest. Anyone remember the Bobby Brewster books? Nuff said.

Hi ChrisJ mines been doing that since I got it over a year ago, it will often come out with a road No and say road closed due to roadworks or accident. Comes in handy if you dont need sat nav on to get somewhere but you then know what road is closed if you was going that way.
Mine only tells me when the M8 is slow or traffic has stop for so many miles but that's not all the time
My 64 Plate SE NAV does this -

I'm pretty sure it gets the information from the Traffic Message Service ( TMS )
that is broadcast over FM radio channels

Hi Wilma I am the same it doesn't say East or West, but knowing Glasgow it is probably both ways. I generally listen to Smooth / Classic or Radio Scotland.Edited by: Exhausted

That's probably because it can't get a word in.
