Lost of £5000

yes that's right £5000 I have lost in ownership on my Antara. I purchased my car in April four months ago it was owned by the dealer from new it is three years old and had covered 16,500 miles today the car has cover 18,000 miles to date I paid £14,000 for it thinking it was a good deal because of the mileage today I asked the dealer what would I get if I purchased a new one and the price they came up with £9,000 that is a loss of £1250 per month I can not get over this if there was anything I could do I would. I feel I have been ripped off big time !! Chauffeur

You will always take a big hit in the first year as the dealer wants to make money. (To much)
Not sure what model you have but we paid £19700. For 3 month old 3000 miles with lifetime warrantie se nav 184 bhp manual
New price is £26500This is what kills the second hand price
We had three bmw minis before the antara you don't loss as much but have to pay a lot for the car to start with. We did well on the last one as the vauxhall dealer had a bmw dealership and wanted the mini countryman.
Do you need to sell it so soon?
Have you tried webuyanycar .com.Have heard good and bad things about them.

Hi, I paid £17k for a brand new diamond 2wd. I have probably lost a similar percentage, but only if I sell it now. I intend to keep it for 5 years. No one said motoring was cheap.

Its not the Antara its any car that would loose that type of money after 4 months.

Incidentally, you will only loose the £5k if you sell or PX.

Thats car ownership for you. I bought my Antara In September 2011 but didnt take delivery until March 2012. I paid the full price of nearly 28k with extras. At the time Antaras were like hens teeth so their was no prereg ones or deals about.

I have had my dealer on the phone recently wondering if they could tempt me with a new one. In the end they could swap my Antara for exactly the same car but a prereg with no miles on and keep my payments the same but the kick in the nuts is the breakdown of the price which they never like to tell you about its always about the monthly payments with dealers these days. Anyway when I checked what my car was worth I was told 10500 maybe 11000. Aye right they are selling similar models for 14k. Anyway thats means I have lost 17k in 28 months.

I Decided to politly decline the deal because I have no issues with it and as much as I like my Antara I cant see myself getting another one when their are so many other options to choose from these days. I always keep my cars for 3-4 years unless it starts giving me problems.

Nobody ever said owning a car is cheap.

I have to keep mine for three years as it is amotabilty car. All I will lose at the end of the three yearsis the £1199 advance payment I had to make to motability. Not bad £400 a year I can live with that.

Plus the £8853 odd in monthly payments

over the 3 year period. As i looked into personal lease as figures are now getting very similar on some marques.

Yes there is that but that includes servicing, any repairs that aren't covered by warranty and insurance

I paid just over £22,000 for my 2012 senav auto 163bhp met black and that was out of the show room, the deals they was giving at that time was outstanding....
