Took the oppertunity, after dropping my son off in Glasgow for his journey back to Wales, to visit my brother in Straiton and take my partner to see Loch Doon & Galloway forest enroute. She is english and has never been to our beautiful country before.
The weather was brillint so showed her a wee bit of our countryside and took a photo of my number 3 lady, Gail being No1 ( had to say that in case I got a slap lol), No2 being my SAAB 95 and No 3 the Antara.

Looks like a lovely spot.
I've never really spent any time in the South Of Scotland, except for a school exchange holiday in Castle Douglas in the 60s. I'm afraid it's now out of my driving range.

Hi Inchindown
This is out of mine, so took the oppertunity to show gail this, as was down to see brother.

I was at boarding school in Dumfries,so know a bit about Dumfries & Galloway also was at Lockerbie after the aircraft came down, with a scottish regt to extract the victims, bad time.I hail from Kemnay originaly.

When I left for the army and only came back there (Aberdeen)twice on postings ( second time as Garrison RSM), so my accent is very soft scots, like an Inverness accent.

I have been up in your neck of the woods on inspectionsto various units and as far as Orkney and the western Isles.

Hi Lewdon
The trip to Loch Doon was'nt planed, I was killing time so thought I would show my partner, who has never been to Scotland before, a look at the area,

I have been trying to get up to the north west where it is lovely and where I spent a lot of my time as a mountain leader.

I managed to get up there myself recently. Ran some private tracks and closed forestry roads. Saw an Osprey too which was neat. Managed to go everywhere the Defender, Range Rover and Disco went.

Got to the top of Benan too. Great view
