Hello,

Just been quoted the best part of £350 to have the DAB upgrade installed on a pre registered Antara. This is from Evans Halshaw.

Has anyone here had one installed elsewhere for cheaper. I appreciate it is an item that needs to be installed behind the dashboard but what they are asking for is ridiculous.

I live nr York so if anyone can recommend a DAB installer please let me know.

Thanks

Paul

I am having DAB fitted to my 12 plate Antara Paul, VX charge £195 as a standard offering for DAB fitting so not sure where £350 comes (even though the dealer expectes it to take longer than VX allow for fitting so their labour will be lost - boo hoo).

All the kit is hidden and the steering wheel controls navigate the DAB menu and stations are selected on the current screen you have, so no unsightly add ons.

I managed to negotiate DAB as part of my purchase deal though so havent even paid the full VX asking price

Hi,

That was the price I was expecting as I got a leaflet from the Evans Halshaw dealership in York a few weeks ago, however I have bought fromHull Evans Halshaw. The kit that goes behind the dash was approx. £140 plus VAT, then there was something else plus VAT and then fitting plus VAT - all in all a ridiculous price.

I'm signing some paperwork today at York so will check with them. You'd have thought that DAB would be fitted as standard on new cars nowadays. I've had it for the past 4 years in my Insignia SE and love having it.

Cheers,

Paul

absolutely worth it IMO as we mainly listen to Radio 5 & Talk Sport and they are on AM. I went in to the dealership last night and they do a DAB upgrade kit fully fitted for £195 but the salesman told me it is cheaper to go to a specialist firm who charge £120 so I'll get it done. I suppose with having DAB and parking sensors added to my Diamond it should add a bit of value when it comes to sell it.

May also upgrade and activate the cruise control after seeing how easy it is to do on this forum :)

I had the DAB installed, it cost £199 and I do use is it. The only issue I have is that they put the aerial on the N/S windscreen and because I live in deepest darkest Dorset sometimes the reception is pants. My Missus has an Astra and her DAB reception is fine through the fin aerial at all times. Overall though I am happy with it. Hope this helps.

I found the window aerial rubbish and ended up fitting a smallish magnetic aerial to the back which makes it crystal clear no drop outs. It's about 5" high, reasonably discreet. I fitted the Sonachi aftermarket kit, I can then move it from car to car when I like. Control box sits discreetly on my cup holder.

I have taken the original touch and connect radio out and had an after market pioneer fitted. It was an expensive model but it's what I was happy to pay, has everything fitted including DAB.

The touch and connect was rubbish and now resides in the loft.
