since new, radiator fan comes on for length of time after jouney, quite noisy and burning smell, strangely, garage say this is normal and refuse to check it, anybody else had this problem??
Hi PGM, the fan running after turning the engine off is normal. What it means is the car has been doing a dpf regeneration, basically excess soot is being burned off.To achieve this extra diesel is injected into dpf to burn at a higher temperature, hence why the fan is running. If this happens you need to let it complete a regeneration. As Dave suggested, look through the forum and read up on the DPF and learn how to drive, manage and maintain the dpf system. ( but its not all doom and gloom, good car choice, enjoy it) http://www.antaraownersclub.com/forum/and-the-dpf-nightmare-begins_topic435.html#5574
Just to add you can still have the cooling fan come on and it doesn't always mean a regen is taking place. I have had it come on with the warmer weather which is to be expected and normal.
