After 14 months of ownership the dealer called me to see if I had considered changing 'up' from my 13 plate to a 64?

I reckon he fell off his chair when I said yes and booked a sales slot this weekend!

Why be such a 'plate tart' you may ask? Well, it'll soon be time for a second service, the tyres don't have a great deal of wear left in them, the Satnav map is out of date (2011), I'm up to my 3rd oil change and I'm not too happy with the colour match of a certain replaced part... Also, if I'd have known my Bluefin unit would map up a 163ps engine to the same (210ps) level as our 184ps, I could've saved almost £2K.

So this weekend may see us change 'up' our old 184 SE NAV to a new 163 SE NAV, whereupon I'll bang on the Bluefin and be back to over 200 ... Sweet! Tea white none please mr salesman..

Yip Peter Vardy I have had the same calls for the last week to the stage they are getting to be a pain in the arse.

To be honest if I was considering changing my Antara I'm not sure I would go for another one. Yes I still love my Antara but with so many new models now available they make the Anyara look a bit dated on the inside at least. And apart from that I probably wouldn't deal with Peter Vardy again.

Oh I forgot to say they were offering me a diamond instead of an SE which I was not interested in.

Done deal. The new 64 plate Antara will be here in a week or so.
I agree that there are plenty of other models out there to chose from but none of the dealers I visitedare offering as generous zero % finance sweetener - If I'm going to pay money outI'd rather not be lining the pockets of a bank along with it.
Now that we know how to get the best from a 4x4 with a DPF this next one should be easier?!
The Trade-In values on the Antara are SHOCKING! Both Arnold Clark and Peter Vardy came back with an initial value of £12K on our 2013 SE NAV 184ps

The Glass' Guide has it at anything up to £14K but it's very rare that you'd achieve the maximum. Luckily I hadan 'associate' discount to play with and the wife is a keen negotiator so we achieved what we needed to achieve. If we were to believe his sob story and dealer software screen, which showed him at a profit of £20 for the exchange, I'm sure PV would be out of business in a week -Yeah sure, Crocodile tears PV?

Anyway, we went for the 163ps version of the SE NAV this time, no point in paying a few grand extra for a 184ps when I still have my Bluefin unit in the kitchen drawer ...

Perhaps the wife will also remember to put the mirrors 'in' when she travels up the 'coal road' next time too, so that we don't end up with another one dangling from the wing!

I thought the bluefin was set up so it was only single registered vehicle use ? I didn't think it was a simple as installing on as many vehicles as you like . Can anyone explains how it works at a minimum I would have thought you'd have to delete the map off the original vehicle before it would allow you to install on another ?

Same colour as before; White with Black leather. Nobody will ever know the difference, apart from the 64 plate on show for a week or so whilst we wait for the cherished number transfer to complete ...
As for the Bluefin 'transfer', you are correct - the unit is mapped to the vehicle. I shall connect it to the car and see if it downloads the new vehicle's ECU data into the handset. If all goes well itshould bejust a matter of uploading it to Superchips and paying for a new vehicle map, which has been quoted at ~£295, which is many hundreds of pounds cheaper than buying a new 184PS
.

I can't believe the first 'deal' tried to add on mats at £100 and that Platinum Protection (polish) at £295. They soon got taken off!

It's great. There are a few minor cosmetic changes since the 2013 version that we've noticed; The steering wheel seems to be of a lighter construction (less effort to turn) but the leather seams on it are not as discreet. The seat belts are narrower and of a different patterned material. The Satnav SD card is a little more up to date. The glove box does not have a separator in it but is instead just one cavernous space. The owner manual and booklets are stored in a cheaper and less substantial wallet than the previous faux-leather version.
As for the engine, the 163 variant seems really smooth and gear change less notchy from 1st to second. The car steers lighter than our last 184ps, which is strange considering it is exactly the same lump. It is (was) noticeably less 'Torquey' when driven hard or when making overtakes when compared to the 184ps. However, now that I've installed the Bluefin remap onto this new car (it cost £225 to have my Bluefin handset reset and a new map created) the thing goes like a bullet; in fact the wife 'whoops' when she accelerates hard out of junctions as it covers ground quite quickly and you need to have your wits about you to avoid going straight on through the hedge!
Apart from that it's the same.

As an aside, having cancelled my previous service plan with PV because I could get it all done cheaper locally, this year I signed up for a new one! Why? Because it came in at £11.50 per month - That's half of what they charged me last year and as cheap as going local but without the hassle of getting an additional Vauxhall inspection/Warranty reactivation. It also means that I can get the bodywork warranty signed off at the same time without incurring extra charges. Strange how it's so cheap compared to last year eh?

Next stop is a Towbar at Buchans of Edinburgh....

What remap Wilma
... Move along, nothing to see here ...

Yes, any change would invalidate your warranty if VX were to discover the change. The software can be restored to the original settings in less than 5 minutes and is so easy that I even had the wife do it on our last Antara when we thought she had a starting problem and would have to get VX out to it. The problem turned out to be air .... The wife had air where her brain should be and wasn't pressing the clutch in before she turned the ignition key.

Oh, one more 'new' thing it has Grumps, which you don't really appreciate until it's dark; door sills with the text 'ANTARA' in white, that illuminate orange at night😎

-LaZ-

EDIT: I took a photo of it tonight but unfortunately my iPhone will not pick up the dashboard type orange glow, instead choosing to enhance the lighting effect to an almost white .. here it is anyway:

Well looks like I am hanging onto my Antara just now.

To be honest I wasnt that keen to get a discounted Antara just for them to obviously just add most of the discount back on because you dont get the 0% finance on a prereg. I could get the same finance figures buying one on 0%.

Unless they come back with a better deal I will stick with my tried and trusted Antara.
