Anyone know where i can buy a cheap Dual Mass Flywheel from , cheapest i can find is nearly £400.
I have the car stripped to replace the clutch, but after taking the gearbox off, i have now found the DMF is toast as well.
Tried all the standard routes ebay, Motor factors etc. By the way if anyones thinking of doing a clutch on one these yourselves, think twice.
I have never known a car that i had to strip so much off it just to get a gearbox off

What was left of the friction disc those strands are what is left of the friction discs, talk about getting your moneys worth out of that clutch  (i bought the car for £1400 , as the clutch had gone completely)

I bit the bullet and paid 400 for a new Dual Mass flywheel, fitted it and all good now. Lets see how long this clutch lasts?
Kudos for changing the clutch yourself, never an easy job on a FWD motor, specially when it's a turbo diesel. Did you think about doing a solid flywheel conversion?

Another thing, did you have any trouble bleeding the clutch?

TBH trying to find a dual mass flywheel was a nightmare, so i did consider changing to a solid flywheel, but i got fed up looking for either. As for trouble bleeding clutch, no problems. i just filled the slave cylinder up before i connected it in the gearbox side, and when i originally disconnected the pipe, from the outside of the gearbox. i removed the bleed nipples rubber gaitor and popped that over the end of the hydraulic pipe i unplugged. So it only had a small amount of air in it , only took a couple of presses on clutch pedal to expel the air and it was all good.

A lot of people have trouble bleeding them. When I put my Antara in for its second service they were supposed to change the clutch fluid but when I checked they hadn't touched it. I went back and complained and the workshop foreman told me they'd had so much trouble bleeding the Antara clutches that they never changed the fluid. He said they'd change it if I insisted but I'd likely be back complaining about difficulty engaging reverse and soft pedal etc so I decided to let it be. .

Well i havent drove it anywhere yet, as the MOT ran out on it while it was sitting on my drive being repaired, but pedal feels fine and gears change ok when engines running. Will see how it is, when i get time to take it for its new MOT. Hopefully i got lucky and have no other problems. Strange how they only mentioned reverse, for problems though?
