Hi, has anyone had good experiences with wheel cleaning fluid?

I used wonder wheels many years ago, but it is acid based and can damage the paint/lacquer.

read "Valet PRO Bilberry wheel cleaner" has a god write up. Has anyone had any experience of this product?

Hi Chris, I use the Auto Glymm 'Clean wheels'. I've found it to be fine, even on damaged wheels. I also use the Auto glymm 'Super resin polish for the paintwork and in my opinion its the best around for the money.

Either Bilberry as you suggest or my favorite is ironx which can be used on painwork as well. It doesnt half stink but spray it on and watch the chemical reaction and wipe off.

Have a look on you tube for videos of iron x being used.

You wont buy it from halfords so have a look at http://www.detailedclean.co.uk/ Its a great site good prices and a brilliant fast and friendly service.
BTW if your interested in car cleaning or detailing then have a look here

Best stuff I found for cleaning wheels is from Chemex ....Can't remember the name of the stuff from the top of my head, but I know it pink and 90% of car valet firms use it.I'm sure if you ask nicely to some of them....They might sell you some. I bought directly from Chemex salesman and it cost me £3.50 for a 1.5lt bottle, but it well worth it as you only need a eggcup full in a bucket to do the whole car ... I used to work as a Caravan technician (touring) and also cleaned them when it was slack....This stuff even got the thickest moss and slime from caravans stood under a tree for years, it also got rid of the black streaks you get from rubber.... Only wish I could remember the blooming name of it..
On the subject of caravans I also was a caravan technician and we used to used a chemical called CA9 that is a powerful cleaner also.
Many thanx to all.
Bilberry is fantastic i've been using it for years and wouldnt use anything else now
soapy water and then polish them with Auto glym super resin polish to stop the crud from sticking, works very well and you are not putting any horrible chemicals on them that will ultimately lead to pitted wheels. If you clean a car at least once a fortnight, they don't get too bad anyway.
When I say soapy water, I mean car shampoo!

My wife must be the best wheel cleaner, she loves scrubbing them, usually along a kerb.

You know we should all drive to Derek's and get him to show us how it's done through demonstrating on each of or cars, I always say to my daughter get the art teacher to show you if you are not sure, so that would be on the same principal

To be fair, my wife hasn't done that yet, but she does have a habit of parking two inches on the curb, the tyre looks flat.....
