Had the RAC out 3 times over the weekend to jump start the
car and after lots of checks was told the battery was naff and also suspect
alternator. They also could not find
correct one as the one listed in the book is way too small. I've looked on
Halfords web site and the one they list for the car (done by reg number is also
wrong)

Got the car going and took it to Lanehouse Vauxhall in
Weymouth (normally quite good) and was told that they can't find a battery
anywhere. None in the UK none in Spain (why there) and in Germany there were 4
already on back order. They also suspect
the alternator and have ordered one but won't be here till Friday at the
earliest. They will fit this to car and if it turns out to be right then they
will order a battery.

After having a long conversation with the service manager
(yes I tried to keep my cool….. well for the best part they have agreed that if
it is the alternator causing the problems they will take a battery from an
Antara they have in and fit it to my car. Yeah I don't hold out much hope for
that either. Also after a lot of well let's
say heated discussion where they said the battery was not covered under warranty
but the alternator was so I would have to pay for battery and my argument being
that if the alternator had not failed as they suspect then neither would the
battery they have agreed at least to replace it free of charge.

Car is just 2 years old and has just over 50,500 on the
clock. I would have thought the alternator would have lasted longer than that. Has anyone else had any problems like this

If you click on the word battery, Euro car parts comes up and if you put your Antara model in it comes up with 3 batteries that fit.

After numerous complaints and visits to Vauxhall in Aberdeen they eventually replaced my battery at the same time the Antara was in for the recent recall and since then I have not had any more issues with the battery going flat . Previously the battery would go flat for no apparent reason and in no obvious pattern. This was done under warranty
