Has anyone tried changing the auto headlights on off settings yet, I believe someone on the VX site has, which this has been brought up in a previous discussion, but no one confirmed it works yet!!!!

Had it done by dealer there is a thread with the relevant tech sheet if dealer denies knowledge of it. Just check airbag warning light isnt on after they do it.

Mine now work on off and auto ie when dark or raining and wipers on not auto equalling on all the time :)
Here you go the post by Lazurus on 21st November is what you wanthttp://www.antaraownersclub.com/forum/restoring-autoon-light-function_topic695_page2.html
Thanks guys and gals, thats another job for perrys to do when i take it in for a service in july, looks like it will be in all day at this rate lolOne more question, are the side lights still constantly on when its set to auto? this would be great if they was......

No they are
not. It's all on or all off in auto setting or of course you can switch the
side lights on yourself.
As Honey monster says check the air bag warning light
is not on when they have finished. If it is then tell them (and apologies I
can't remember who told me) but they need to reset the ECU logic. Mine also now
has a problem with the cruise control but I think that is a separate problem
but also worth checking just in case. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
Thanks for clearing up all the questions in just a few simple posts and not one mention of the dreaded filter this time, how nice is that lol
Hi from Paul

I see on the headlight cluster there are driving lights, in the hand book it says turn the light switch to auto, there is no auto function, on the switch on the car, is there any other switch
Mine has off straight up, turn it anti clockwise and it goes to auto, turn it clockwise once and you get side lights, twice is headlights.

Hi Folks,
Apologies if thishas beencovered elsewhere, I collected my SE Nav Saturday and only noticed today that when lights in Auto position the computer display and radio are bright, there is no light on the rev counter and Speedo cluster but the headlights are on
. Turn the switch to ON and the computer / radio dims and the Speedo cluster comes on so not a fault on speedo cluster (fuse)? But I would have thought if headlights on so should the Speedo cluster??

You will find the sensor on the dash sorts if it's dark or not, when it goes dark the dash lights dim but your headlights are on all the time so you won't notice any difference, never noticed myself if the headlight sign comes on in the dark but I'll check tonight.

Cheers for that

If I remember correctly, when you have the light switch on Auto during daylight, it only turns the headlights/sidelights on.

You will be able to flash your headlights, but not turn them on to permanent full beam until the daylight sensor thinks it's night time.

The lights on the instrument cluster will alsonot come on until night has been sensed.

The daylight sensor seems a bit inconsistent to me as it sometimes detects night time in cloudy conditions which are not all that dark.

If you need the instrument cluster illuminated during the day, turn the light switch to the "ON" position.
Another way to tell is by changing your clock, mpg info display. It is set at night by default for some reason but if you go into settings and deselect the night setting the display will go orange with dark text during the day and then turns dark with orange text at night when the lights come on.

As the guys have said leave it on auto.
