American Antara

Hi,

Just thought I would post the fact I have been in an American Antara today. I'm in Michigan with work and got taken out for lunch in a Chevrolet Captiva. But it is not a Captiva as we know it, it is an Antara.

Shorter body, no seven seats, same gills on the front wings, same front lights, definitely more an Antara than a Captiva. It is much the same inside but has a different stereo and all the instruments light up green. It is a 3 litre V6 2WD, so all those moaning about poor MPG, it could be worse.

IF I have time, I will take a couple of picks tomorrow. They are very popular over here.

Hi Andy I would love to see that, do they still do the Ford Explorer ( now that did have low mileage to the gallon) or is it called the expedition, have you seen the Chevys over their

Interesting I look forward to the photos
Yip see plenty over there on holiday. Thy used to sold in the US under the Saturn badge but when they dropped that name they started selling it under the Chevy name but they are only sold as lease cars and the hire car market. They are built it Mexico not Korea.

The one thing I like is the colour or should that be color coded bumpers and wheel arches.

I've always liked the look of the Ford Edge & the Explorer as well;

Explorer:

Never been in a US SUV though so no idea what they are like.

From what I understand, American SUVs are mostly V6 Petrol engines with auto gearboxes and a higher level of trim than we tend to get over here. Due to the smaller US Gallon, they also appear to have really awful MPG figures.Edited by: Inchindown

the black is very sexy looking why cant they have them looking like that over hear we seem to get all the dregs, our ford explorer was a great car to drive its the longest we have ever kept a car but the mileage was rotten i liked the petrol did not stink as much as diesel
The red is nice to, i love the sweeping front lights gives the bonnet a lovely shape although it does look like a range rover.
Yeah I always liked the look of the edge. A couple of years ago we were supposed to get an edge from hertz but ended up with an upgrade to a real tank a yukon. It had a reversing camera built into the rear view mirror.
Hi, here is the car I have been travelling round in over the last few days. it looks nice with twin exhausts.

Just like the Antara my husbands Captiva 2012 plate looks better as the front grill is much more 4x4 looking makes it look more powerful and tha shape is sexy on it or more appealing. Was the inside full of gadgets ?
No really much we don't have Wilma. A lot more dings and bongs to tell the Americans they have to shut the doors before they drive off etc. No satnav or anything. The doors lock when you put the car in gear and the annoying thing is the horn beeps every time you lock or unlock the car
. It had nice alloys though...
