Alloy Wheels

I was wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem with their Alloy Wheels as I have, which is stone chips? Since picking up my Antara in April 13I've acquired 4 stone chips, 2 are really bad and the other 2 are minor. I've done just under 7000 miles, all on tarmac roads and I'm some what surprisedhow much damage a stone can do to the alloys?

I'm beginning to wonder about the quality of the alloy wheels fitted on the Antara, consideringhow much they cost to buy, also in all the years of owning other vehicles with alloy wheels, I've never experienced thiskind of problem before?

As I mentioned in another thread I had a problem with the lacquer flaking but that was the centre cap causing the problem.

I did have one or two stone chips but nothing bad. The big problem with the SE alloys are they are machine finished and touching up chips before the aluminium starts to discolour before you spot the chip is impossible.
I noticed the same, I have an exclusive model and the faces of the spokes in the wheel seem to pick up the chips, anybody know how / where to get a good (perfect preferably) colour match touch up ?

Your dealer should have them.
Hi Grumps,

I have looked for your past post re alloy wheels/centre caps but can't find it, so not sure how you got on.

Just had mine in for pipe check and asked them to look at wheels which are showing signs of discolouration around the centre caps. On collection I was informed that they had ordered new caps and that there was no corrosion on the wheel. Now I am no mechanic but the brown stains do not rub off so it will be interesting to hear the 'experts' explanation for the staining when they have fitted the new caps.

An update onAntara's wheels. The garage ordered and fitted new centre caps, which looked much better than the old (21mths) ones, but did little to solve the discolouration under the lacquer around them. Photos were taken and sent to vx headquarters then nothing. Eventually an email saying vx had agreed to replace, not refurbish the wheels, then more nothing. Last week I got a phone call the new wheels have arrived.
Antara is very happy and looking forward to getting his new wheels ready for his autumn tripwith the caravan, down to the Med this year.

Antara has a new set of wheels.
Not that you would noticemuch difference, but the small amount of discolouration has now gone, all courtesy of Mathew at Pentagon Vauxhall Eccles.
I am amazed that vx agreed to change them.
