I posted this yesterday and forgot to add that the car has just done 30,000 miles.
I have a problem with a loud bang or thud coming from underneath the car, this only happens once or twice on my daily journey, the sound seems to be coming from the rear passenger side of the car and I don't know what's causing it, does any one have any ideas as to what would cause this??????
I would appreciate any advice on this.

Ps. It seems to happen after I have reversed and then drive the car forward

Regards
Pablo

Hi Pablo. I once had a vehicle with similarsymptoms. Although not with an Antara it was on another FWD vehicle - a Landrover Defender. It turned out to be the front diff which needed replacing. As you can imagine, on a Landy this was not a cheap fix.
I hope that it is something much simpler (and cheaper) in your case.
Cheers Spantara for the reply,

This may sound a strange question if it was your front diff. was the noise transmitted to the back of the landrover?

Regards
Pablo
No, the noise was definately coming from the front but it was a similar noise to that which you describe.
Of course, a 4WD has diffs both front and back and so there could be a fault with either of them. The difference, of course, between the landy and the Antara is that the Landy is permanent 4WD and so the fron diff is allways in "working" mode.

I really hope that it is not your diff. I am no expert at all so my guess is very little more than a stab in the dark.

I hope this is soon fixed for you and that it comes nowhere close to costing an arm and a leg.

Cheers // Stephen
Hi Pablo and welcome.

I trust that you will get your problem fixed sooner rather than later and as Spantara says, it doesn't cost too much.

On a less serious note, don't pay too much attention to what Stephen says, he doesn't even have an Antara at the moment

Ok, Ok, Ok.....I'm only kidding about Stephen

Thanks for that John - at the moment it feels like I may never see the car again

I'm sure that it won't take too long to come from Germany

If however the lock does need to come from South Korea, at least you will have the honour of being the first Antara owner who will be "tracking" a ship from Incheon, which is carrying a door lock.

Seriously though Stephen, fingers crossed that they source one quickly and you'll be back on the road in the next couple of days.

Yeah - fingers crossed.
If I don't get the car back by Tuesday I will not see it for a month due to my preambulating lifestyle. Perhaps I should have described my lifestyle as itinerant although it will be perambulating in every sense of the word if I don't get the car back.

I am sure they will find a part in Germany but, if not, maybe there is a Vauxhaull I can canabalise?

You could always "hire" a pirate ship, stop and board a ship sailing from Incheon and force it to dock at Vigo.

I'm pretty sure no one would mind

But think if I get the wrong ships - one heading for the UK - carrying only RHD cars. I could not have that because I can't take a RHD door lock for a LHD car. Just wouldn't fit would it?
By the way, I taught my kids everything I know and they still know nothing!

That's far too complicated for me to digest

I've got it
get a ship that is sailing away from the UK

We'll see what happens. At the moment I envisage myself driving along like Mr. Bean with a hasp, staple and padlock on the door

Stephen, I am sure that the garage will source one quickly from Germany and you will be back on the road sooner than expected.

Well that's my hope and wish for you.
