Well after threatening for quite some time to change the side lights so they didn't look stupid compared to the xenon headlights I took some time out at the weekend to complete the job.

Those pins that hold the plastic cover around the bonnet latch were extremely tricky and one of the larger ones simply refused to come out so I had to pivot it round to remove the light unit. All I can say is that Vauxhall clearly didn't design this with changing the bulbs easily in mind!

That said, I'm now extremely happy and the 225 lumen filament LEDs look amazing!

The lights certainly look impressive. Where did you get them from?

It was the Halfords ones I bought too, but sadly no trade card so paid the full £15! Reviews suggested they were reliable and my only concern was a few comments suggesting they don't fit every car but had no issues once the light units had been removed. I have my first MOT next month so lets hope there's no comments about emitting blue light! They look pure white to me, so shouldn't be a problem! :-)

Next job will be doing the same with the front fogs, but don't use them often so less pressing. Having scouted around the front of the car I genuinely have no idea on how to even access the back of the unit, so some reading will be required. If anyone has done this please feel free to share!

I have got some to put in, must get and do it! I can't believe how dim the standard ones are.

Agreed! They really are and since the headlights are xenon it's really noticeable. Oh, and if you need some advice on replacing them just let me know and I can give you tips from when I did mine. A freebie I'll give you now is that the plastic pins holding the surround that goes around the bonnet latch are tricky as ****...some will come out easily and if one isn't coming out try to reach around behind it and pinch it to ensure you get purchase unscrewing it.

Regarding the front fogs, I've done some scouting and they don't seem nearly as straightforward to replace - access is via the wheel well, which is far from ideal and seems like a ramp is pretty well a necessity...

Once you've got headlamp out you can reach down to the foglamps.
