Hi Richy, yes, when I had come off a long drive and was just about to park the vehicle in a low gear, it would shudder both on left and right turn as if it was kangaroo jumping. Whilst driving vehicle I didnt notice any shudder. Its been racking my brain what it is? Could it be the PAS, transmission or my driving.
Obviously I have not driven the vehicle and I have not needed to resolve this problem in the past.
But, I have experienced something similar on my cars, not on the Antara, but I think on a shogun and maybe Sorento in the wet.
I think its when you put a load on the steering wheel, i.e. by having the cars front wheels turned at angle. This will put a load on the power steering pump and may then cause the belt to slip which oscillates the pressure to the steering rack and could cause the vibration. I would first check your fluid level and then tension on the drive belt. I understand drive belts can wear which can cause them to slip so you may need to change the belt. Let me know how you get on
i think I'm beginning to notice a shudder on my car on hard lock I notice it when towing as I tend to take junctions wide for caravan clearance. I haven't really worried about it much, especially as I'm normally towing and have lots of other things to think about. But it could be the tyres scrubbing on the road surface, belt slipping. I'll try to take more notice next time it happens. Richy
