Thanks for this, do you know if it can definitely be done , I have heard Vauxhall program their ECU to be used only once and there is no software that can Virginize the ECU to be re-programmed

I'm sorry to say I don't know. However, if you were to pursue the used/eBay route (there were three for sale last week) ask the vendor before making any commitment and also ask the person/firm you might commission to programme it. Depending upon the urgency, a question to 'Honest John' online will normally give a factual and no-nonsense response; he has pretty good trade contacts covering all matters on all cars. His website has a FAQ section and the subject might already be covered there.

Hi Iím just reading your post about your faulty Ecu was wondering did you manage to change it and got it all reprogrammed instead of going to the dealer

Just had a used ECU fit and programmed/coded to car. So it is possible.The independent garage specialises in VW Audi Skoda. Cost a third of what vaux want for a new 1. The garage tell me it is tricky and they pay a subscription to vaux to use there software.
