Wow Iain, that's a lovely van you have there my friend.
I have never owned a caravan and probably never will but my parents bought a caravan after I moved out of the house (no connection....honest

) and I was mightily impressed back then but as you have posted, the look and design of caravans have came a long way.
A few years after buying their first caravan, my parents then invested in a trailer tent, primarily because they changed their car and it just wasn't up to the task of pulling the van. This too was an amazing piece of kit.
They would situate the trailer, lower the legs and then they inserted a handle into a hole and basically wound the top two thirds of the trailer into position. The whole thing took less than two minutes to raise and it looked just like a caravan but with canvas walls and windows.
Over the next 15 years or so they kept trading in their trailer tents against a newer one until they were able to buy a brand new one. I know how much they paid for that so I can only imagine the going rate for a fully kitted out towing caravan.
Anyway I hope that you get the weather for it over the summer because you have the car and the caravan to spend plenty of time on the road.
