steering angle sensor

can someone help my car has failed its MOT on a steering wheel angle sensor malfunction,can anyone tell me how to change the sensor myself to save money

How did they know it had failed ?, I wasn't aware they checked this. Fitting the sensor seams straight forward, it is connected to the bottom of the steering column at the point where the connecting shaft is fitted between the column and rack. What might be more onerous is how is this calibrated ?

If you follow this:
you will see (from Victor's post) that the ECU has to be reprogrammed by a Vauxhall dealer after the sensor has been replaced.

I urge members of this forum to use the search facility on this site to access the extensive and valuable archive of problems and solutions that have been raised over the past few years. The answer is nearly always there.
