Angry Leak from Windscreen washer resovoir

Hi New member here Good to join Former Frontera owner and was a member there.

Problem just started with 65 reg diesel Filled up with screen was the other day and to my horror saw some spill to the ground. Anyone else had a similar problem? Asked at the garage and he suggested removal of wing panel to get repair Sounds a bit drastic!

Hi Does sound a little extreme, this may sound stupid but I'm sure I removed mine for some reason this year, think it was to replace the radiator, although not sure it was absolutely essential to do the radiator job.

Anyway I'm sure its on the left hand side of the car under the front wing. To get at it you need to remove front left hand side wheel arch liner. It has these little plastic clips that are something like rawlplugs with a plastic screw in the middle. you need to dig the screw out to remove the clip, useful to have some spares when you do the job. This then exposes the washer reservoir, disconnect the cables and hoses to the two pumps then remove the bottle. Awkward to get at so you can undo the bolts that hold the reservoir move it away from the body then do the disconnections if required.

It could be a damaged hose and the bottle may not need removing best have a look and see. I'm sure you definitely do not need to remove the wing. Richy

Thanks Richy! Will have a look at this next week but for now just keep topping up. Maybe I picked the lad at the garage up wrong re the wing! Cheers Have a good Christmas.

The washer tank is located under the L/H front wing (there's two pumps on it). You have to remove the rain shield under the wing to access it and drop the front bumper to change it.

Make sure the leak isn't coming from the filler tube where it meets the neck of the tank. There's a joint there with a clamp so check it first before removing the tank.
