Hello Antara owners

Just purchased a second hand Antara (2012 2.2l CDTi SE Auto)

Got it for a bargain price, but there is a stale smell of cigarettes (previous owner obviously a smoker!)

Just wandering if anyone can recommend a good way to get rid...I've ordered a Dakota Car Bomb - New car smell as apparently that is good. Also planning to fabreze other areas of the car but the seats are leather so wandering the best approach.

Basically, we were aware of the smell when we bought it but it was such a good price I got carried away!

Having seen and smelled the results on my step-son's joint-smokey 53 Hyundai Coupe, I'd be tempted to pay for a professional valet service. Tell them your problem and that you want it gone away ...

Thanks all...I'm picking the car up this afternoon. The dealer said they would try and work to getting rid of the smell but I sceptical they will try that hard!!

Smell is starting to lift a little now...with leather wipes on the seats, Fabreeze etc. Car bomb arrives tomorrow so hoping that will do the trick.

Also have new car mats on the way as it didn't have any!

But so far really loving the Antara. Think I made a good choice!

I have heard about cutting up an appleand leaving it overnight. Haven't tried it myself so can't confirm if it works or not.

Thanks, I'll give the Apple trick a go!

I've managed to clear a lot of the smell by giving the car a thorough cleaning etc. There still is a slight smell but I think that might be because I still need to have a go at cleaning the headlining and re-treat the leather seats. Also...can anyone suggest a remedy to get the smoke smell out of a steering wheel?!

I was told that if you cut an onion in half and leave it out it can remove odours (Mainly paint I was told)
