My engine dies at startup 3-6 times and at idle

Urgent Help and advise really wanted: My 2.2 diesel Antara dies on starting over and over again. All my Vauxhall dealer could tell me after £300 pounds of diagnostic works is the high pressure fuel pump went bad because the fuel filter was blocked. There request £1,300 for a new pump and £500 and no guarantee this cost would fix the problem. Where can I buy a cheaper pump. The car dies only at low RPM yet accelerates like **** once the accelerator is pressed.

It's probably your suction control valve on the injection pump that's faulty (also known as the fuel metering valve).
You may have a Bosch (prob a CP3) or a Delphi injection pump fitted to yours. Go to Ebay and look for Antara suction control valve.
