You could try disconnecting the battery for half an hour, make sure you discharge all the modules first as per BJS post (use search button). Just so long as you have the code for your Radio centre.Generic code readers won't read manufacturer-specific trouble codes which are the ones that usually bring on the Check Engine light.

It would help if you added the details of your car into your signature box.

Hi ya
Depending petrol or Diesel engine ?
Could fit a lamba sensor spacer depending on vehicle year ?
could stop fault showing . that's if it is a lamba sensor triggering engine management light need to wait and get fault codes

Factory reset as follows in link below

Thanks for all the input, plugged the code reader in no faults found ! and the engine light went out !!!. But the dpf stayed on so took it out and gave it a right good thrashing for 30 mins came home light still on so picked the revs up for 5 mins light has gone out and the engine light has stayed out. Only problem now is oil light condition is now on ! funny that as vauxhall only did full major service on it 2 months ago. Looks like i am going to flush it all out and put a fresh filter and a good quality oil.

Typical VX dealer all they are good for is stamping your service book if they remember to get the stamp out the draw
Don't forget they may have not even reset the oil light don't forget if you have been doing quite a few regens a certain amount of diesel get mixed into the engine oil on every attempted regen.
Yes I would check oil condition and if in any doubt oil engine flush and renew oil and reset the light myself at least you know it's been done then
If your getting dirty might think about oil change on transfer box if you have 4x4 model ( get the right transfer box oil )
