I have just developed are vibration when put accelerator down seems to be left front side alsowhen stationaryrattle from engine when revs applied.Checked drop links & ball joints they seem ok, tyres & pressure ok, oil level ok.
I think BJS is right about valve(s) buit can't remember the thread about it. Hard to say, you haven't given any detail but if you're talking about the L/H side of the engine (as viewed from the drivers seat) that's the clutch end and it could possibly be the dual mass flywheel starting to act up. Does it make any difference to the noise when stationary if you press the clutch pedal down or even partially down?
Just a update for those interested. I took car to local garage as rattle developed on tickover yesterday who gave car a good check over while I watched & road tested car & diagnosed early signs of dmf rattle.I went to VX for 2nd opinion today who said same thing & quoted £2300 to replace dmf, clutch & csc.
Anyone know of supplier to get kit from so I can get local garage to repair.
Thought it might be DMF related. For a replacement kit I'd especially mention do not buy cheap no-name parts, you could end up paying twice to get the job done properly. You could try GSF Parts since they're sponsors of this forum and offer members a discount. You could also check out autovox.co.uk and if you say you're a Car Mechanics magazine reader you'll get free next day delivery plus a free rechargeable inspection lamp.
Thanks Victor. I have tried several motor factors & they all say they don't stock flywheel but I have found a sachs set in Germany for around £750. Just had VX dealer on phone & they got price down to £2025 inc vat.with them getting parts from different VX dealers as they do not have any parts needed in stock.Edited by: kevin b
