Hi all, new here and this is my first post, I have had many varied diesel vehicles in the past but have recently bought a 57 plate Antara 2.0 CDTi and was wondering if it was possible to blank or remove the EGR valve and what is involved or any precautions I should take. Many thanks, Stuart.

Hi and welcome to the forum
Not sure about EGR removal as this park is also used during exhaust particulate filter clean. But there will be someone who can go into more detail regarding EGR removal and consequences of doing so

Hi, I bought my 2013 Antara in November 2016 and shortly after buying it the engine warning light came on and the car seems to have tried to do a dpf regen on numerous occasions but failed to complete. I believe this may be due to an egr fault but I don't know if it is advisable to blank it off or remove it. I have bought a blanking plate but not fitted it yet as I don't want to risk it causing more harm. Anybody out there who has removed/blanked their egr valve I would appreciate some sound advice. I have tried clearing the fault but it just comes back again with the same egr fault code. The fault code is P404 if I remember correctly which is something to do with egr pressure differential.

Hello Baz and welcome to the board. I don't know anyone on here who has removed or blanked off their EGR valve but I'm glad you know enough not to just go ahead and blank it off, it can bring on the EML and might have to go in to get it all re-set. Along with your other question about removing the DPF I'd say you'd need an ECU remap, trouble is it's ilegal to do it in the UK so firms can no longer advertise that they'll do it. I'm quite sure there are some who will still do it but it would need to be word of mouth.

Sorry I can't offer you anything by way of personal experience but maybe some one else can.

Thanks for the reply Victor. Think I am going to run it past some motor engineers here on the island before I go any further with it. I really don't understand why VX have such a complicated system. My son has a Citreon DS3 and has no problems whatsoever. Apparently the car is fitted with a dosing tank controlled by its own ecu that gives an injection of eolysis every time the tank is filled and that keeps everything clean and lubricated.
