Hi all

Newbie here. Don't own an Antara, but have a Holden Captiva which I figure is the same thing. It's a 3.2 auto and I want to check the auto transmission oil level but cannot find a level plug or any instructions. Anybody got any advise or diagrams? My best friend Mr Google doesn't seem to know a lot about this.

Thanks in advance
Paul

You may find the transmission level can only be checked by taking out the level plug as shown on a Ford on this videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqwbRNQLfSIIt's the way they're making auto transmissions nowadays. You don't say what year yours is.

Thanks for the reply Victor

Mine's a 2007. It's the actual position of the level plug that is causing the problem, I can not seem to find it.

Thanks
Paul

That's what I'm trying to tell you, there may not be a level plug on your transmission. Traditionally automatics had a dipstick to check the oil level with Hot and Cold markings for the oil level and you mostly used the dipstick hole to fill or top up the fluid. But manufacturers have been doing away with these dipsticks because their auto boxes are sealed systems.

If you don't have a dipstick on your auto transmission then you will likely have to check the fluid level on a ramp similar to what is shown on that video i posted the link to.

Thanks Victor

I will look into it more at the weekend and post back my findings.

Thank you
