Hi. The oil service light has come on today. I've only done 200 miles since an oil change. However as I only do short trips, I've interrupted a couple of dpf regeneration. Does the light reset after a successful regen or does it have to be done manually. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If its your oil service light that's on,it has to be reset by VX. Older models can be re-set using the gas pedal (google it).
Are you sure its the service light and not the red oil pressure light?

Hi, mine is an 09, so the reset has worked, I wondered if a couple of fail regens would cause the light to come on, yes it's the orange oil can and spanner light, thanks

A couple of failed DPF regenerations would not cause the oil light to come on if the engine oil has been changed regularly. I was surprised to find reports on the web about how relatively little damage was done by fuel oil (diesel) dilution of the engine oil as regards bearing wear etc. However there's other things going on like the engine breather system being polluted with fuel oil vapour and when this is sucked into the inlet manifold by the CCV system it causes trouble eg contaminating MAF sensors and causing build up of deposits in the intercooler passageways.

I suspect that the oil light has not been re-set at the oil service. I have had the same issue on a previous car. Now re-set,it should be OK.
