Morning everyone. Had my Antara for three weeks now and loving everything except the fuel consumption . As we have had some nice weather I have been driving with the window open and have noticed that I can hear turbo Whistle at lower speeds. I've owned TD cars for 15 years and know that different engines have different characteristics but I also know that excessive whistle could be a symptom of underlying issues. So my rather long winded question is, do all the 2.2 engines do this or do I need to worry?
Thanks Andrewberry, I knew the MPG was going to be poor before buying but having it constantly thrust in your face from the top screen as you accelerate and see 5MPG is making me paranoid lol.
Happy that some engines whistle more than others but wanted to check with all you other owners. Now I can enjoy trying to play a tune with it.
Dont think its a problem. Some turbo's do have a whistle, mine has since new but i know its and inherent feature of some units.
If you are under warranty I would consult with the dealer.
Even if they say it's ok I would get it logged just in case.
Obviously it also depends on how loud the whistle is.
