Hi all,Had the same problem with my 08 Antara, turned out to be the universal joint in the middle of the propshaft. Unlike usual U joints this one is not held in place by a cir-clip but instead is burred over on the metal. It is however possible to remove the u joint by punching the burred metal flat then using a vice as shown on youtube to pop the joint out, once out take the propshaft to "haleys" for example or other fixings supplier so they can measure the gap to source the correct u joint, fit as described in the youtube video "eric the car guy" and a £1200 repair now becomes £35!!!

Are you talking about the propshaft centre bearing or the propshaft universal joint? The "burring over" you refer to on a universal joint is called staking and when they started doing it many years ago it made the propshafts unrepairable ie you had to buy a new one. Then little repair shops started springing up who "repaired" them, some with frightening results. The major problem was vibration since they didn't / couldn't get the alignment of the joint 100%. They didn't have any dynamic balancing equipment either, not that it would have mattered because if the alignment of the bearing is out then you'll never dynamically balance it. I've seen propshafts sprouting Jubilee clips, sometimes with lead weights in between them - talk about rough.
