Hi everybody ,I am looking for a decent chip upgrade & have come across this one 'the Italianbox' just wondering if anyone has installed this ? You see I am struggling with the turbo lag having been used to a 2.2 petrol Signum . Worried about starting off with a caravan on the back. Any ideas.

Hi Live wire, believe me you wont have problem starting with a caravan, but you won't be doing racing starts either at two tons, perhaps a Bentley might be better!

Live Wire you say you're experiencing turbo lag so the turbo is taking a while to spool up and produce enough boost for the power demanded. Can't see how fitting a chip which will demand even more boost to go with the increased fuel will help things.

Are you finding you need to push the throttle pedal down a long way to get the car to respond ? If so this is done to give you better throttle control on mud or snow. You will find the more expensive 4x4s will have different setting for the type of road surface and even a sport setting that will sharpen the throttle response. If you had a remap they could help with this but it won't help when pulling the caravan on wet or muddy roads. I had a tuning box on my old freelander and that connected to the air flow sensor aswell as the fuel rail with 5 setting . On no5 the throttle was like a sports car but used no 3 for towing . If you google Ron box you should find the site and they do a switch for it so you can use three settings from inside the car. I can look the number out if you want to phone them as they are very helpful on the phone .

Thanks for that Keef , at least that gives me a reason for the slower pick up . I think I really need to modify my starting off technique !
