Hi all
My oil is over the limit on the dip stick
So I'm going to do my own oil change this time.
Can anyone post a pic of where the sump plug and oil filter are. 2.2 163 model.
Thanks. Edited by: Ray

When you remove the undertray (if not already removed in the recall) you cant miss the sump plug. The il filter is at the top rear left hand side under a black plastic cover with a nut on top.
This clip is from a captive and the filter is not that low down.

Dexos 2 is the type of oil you are looking to buy. Sometimes you can get a good price at your local VX dealer.

You have to be careful buying online to make sure you get genuine Dexos 2. Plenty of people selling on ebay etc selling fake stuff.

Yes C3 is the spec (I think its 5/30) I use VX dexos 2.

Forgot to say, the black plastic engine cover just pulls off. You may have to wriggle it a bit to remove it.

PS I got 20L of dexos 2 from these guys for 68. I collected it in person

I changed my oil and filter after the first 1200 miles or so just to get rid of any tiny metal particles from the engine bedding in. The sump plug is 17mm and the oil filter nut is 32mm. It's very simple, don't think you can go wrong. There's a good video showing you the oil filter location and how to remove it herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VenRozgUuzYI think that other video is the earlier 2 litre engine.

The VX dealer wanted 35.08 for a new filter and 49.56 for 5 litres of Dexos II oil inc VAT. The engine takes 5.6 litres. You need to be sure you are getting the right spec oil, I'd imagine Magnatec is fine, since it's C3 it's low ash oil so won't contaminate the DPF.

I didn't re-set my oil life indicator light but understand the procedure to do this is to switch on engine (don't start) then press the accelerator pedal 3 times within 10 seconds then switch off.

I was aware this worked with earlier Antara's & Captiva's, but later models from 2013, thinks its a dealer only reset, but could be wrong...
