Hello there. I have a 2007 Antara CDTI 2.0 diesel and did an engine oil and filter change today. The book says I needed 6.2 litres of oil but I only managed to get 5 litres in the sump. I phoned Vauxhall and they said they usually take 5-5.5 litres to fill. However any website that sells oil by registration quotes 6.2 litres. The reg is N6 LAY
Can anyone shed any light on this discrepancy please

Hi Andrew welcome to the club.Silly question but did you fill the oil filter before putting it on. If not, start the engine let it run ontickover for 1 min. turn it off, let the oil settle and check the level.

When I had a service on my last car which was also a deisel the technician put in " synthetic oil" wasn't too sure at the time but is this type of oil any better or worse than the " proper stuff" for deisels?

I changed my oil and filter and approx. 5.75 lts came out (2.2 diesel) I wouldn't get too hung up on makers specs. If its on the dipstick its OK.On the subject of synthetic oil, Just using synthetic is not good enough. It has to be the correct spec. or you may cause damage to the DPF. ie. block it up.
