Forgot about the rule changes about car tax when I traded the old one in on Monday. Woke up to a nice little cheque for £75 this morning

on the down side, you may have paid for a full month on your new car when in fact you may have only had it 1 week. (:

Like when the dealer registered mine on the 30th November? Yeah, was really happy about that.

Also prefer the lump sum up front, not least cos it's cheaper! To spread the cost though, I put aside £20 a month into a "bills" account and pay from that each year. Always a few quid left over to buy a pint or two too!
