It's not only Vauxhall that has recalls for things catching fire.

Got a recall notice for my Hotpoint tumble drier today. Seems there have been several fires caused by fluff being set on fire by the heater element.

My luck has come in all 3 regarding potential fire risks:1 - Antara
2 - Zafira (waiting for notice to arrive)
3 - Hotpoint tumble drier

Disappointed good luck doesn't come round in 3's too...!

I worked for over thirty repairing tumble driers and washing machines and many of the driers I repaired had fluff all over the insides of them including on the heater where it usually burned off before it built up.

Try a dehumidifier works great for drying clothes in crap weather also for keeping the condensation down in the colder months

Vauxhall could learn something from Hotpoint about handling safety recalls.

It has taken Hotpoint less than 2 weeks to carry out safety work on my tumble drier. The repair included 2 replacement parts and a modification of another part. One of the parts was the entire back panel.

I'm just beginning to wonder if I will get a new engine cover before I get a new car in March.

Personally I think the chances of a new engine cover are rather low

I had read about the fire risk in the Zafira I didn't realise about the Antara. I've just searched the forum and noticed the thread about theAntara Engine Undertray Recall - is this the fire risk you are talking about?
