The IE10 update, as downloaded by the Windows Update process, is notably flawed. There are many records of it corrupting the operating system, being unable to access the internet, or affecting the Aero screen (translucent/transparent effect).
I let this update go through on 2 of my computers and had a poor experience. I uninstalled it through the add/remove programs option, with show installed updates checked and, went back to IE9. That said, my list of favourites have since lost their associated 'favicon' (the little symbol that appears in the address bar) but, this can be rebuilt by deleting a favourite and then re-saving it again (PITA though).I operate on Win 7 64 bit and 32 bit for the machines affected. My other 2 machines run Ubuntu Linux, which has improved dramatically over the years to make it almost a viable alternative but, alas, the plug-and-play is nowhere near as 'easy' as Windows just yet!
