Nice combination there Mason

I am certainly no caravan aficionado but that looks like a bit piece of kit that you are towing there

The vans have come on such a long way we treated ourselves last year to our first new van, swapping from a 1987 Adria to a new model and nowadays they are home from home.

Wow Iain, that's a lovely van you have there my friend.

I have never owned a caravan and probably never will but my parents bought a caravan after I moved out of the house (no connection....honest) and I was mightily impressed back then but as you have posted, the look and design of caravans have came a long way.

A few years after buying their first caravan, my parents then invested in a trailer tent, primarily because they changed their car and it just wasn't up to the task of pulling the van. This too was an amazing piece of kit.

They would situate the trailer, lower the legs and then they inserted a handle into a hole and basically wound the top two thirds of the trailer into position. The whole thing took less than two minutes to raise and it looked just like a caravan but with canvas walls and windows.

Over the next 15 years or so they kept trading in their trailer tents against a newer one until they were able to buy a brand new one. I know how much they paid for that so I can only imagine the going rate for a fully kitted out towing caravan.

Anyway I hope that you get the weather for it over the summer because you have the car and the caravan to spend plenty of time on the road.

Very nice Iain. It makes me have second thought about going caravaning.

I spent my childhood caravaning with my parents and loved it. They still have a caravan which we used to use when our daughter was younger to go on holiday in but i have never towed it. They hardly use it and I have been offered it but never taken them up on it but now we have the dog it's something I have considered. I'm just not sure I could be bothered with the hassle lol.

I need to get a tow bar on the Antara and give it a go with their caravan before I can make my mind up.

I had a vectra a few years ago that I fitted a tow bar to so we could tow a trailer and possible use the caravan but although I did plenty miles with the trailer by that time we had started going abroad for holidays so caravaning was forgotten about until now.

[QUOTE=8342mat] [QUOTE=Antarius] is there a specific reason why all caravans are predominantly "white" coloured
Quote:

John,

This very question was asked on a few of the caravan forums last year.
The answer was simply down to the cost of paint.
The other argument was that white reflects heat, a valid point when caravanning in the UK !!!

Other colours are available on certain makes, but as you say predominantly white.

Mat
Well John you will need to get a white Antara to look the business
