And it's goodbye from me...
I've finally said goodbye to my Antara.
Nearly 7 years and 87,000 miles, and only let me down once, when the DMF failed and we were due to go away for the weekend. Fortunately, we were still at home and not left stranded anywhere.
It's taken 2 adults, 3 kids, a dog and a caravan to Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, as well as the length and breadth of England and Wales, and never let us down when on the road. It's last trip was a family holiday in Cornwall with caravan in tow.
It coped perfectly in snow, leaving 2 wheel drive cars in it's wake up steep hills, as they were abandoned all over the place. Also coped beautifully going downhill in snow, with the hill descent taking me down and past the Zafira embedded in a wall!
Not all been plain sailing though. Warranty repairs on the dual mass flywheel, power steering leak, front suspension (can't remember exactly what had gone). And the least said about MPG and the DPF, the better. When it went, it was in need of some expensive repairs (hence the reason for it going in trade-in), with the rear bearings going and at the last service it was found to need repairs on an oil leak on the timing case, and the quoted price on that was eye-watering. Also had repeated problems with the front and rear screen washer jets clogging.
Biggest problem though, has to be the useless dealers around where I live. The Vx dealer in Barnsley failed to renew my warranty, luckily Vx did accept it being late, as it was the dealers fault and all the checks were done on time, otherwise I'd have had to pay for the DMF to be replaced.
I've just had a look and it's currently for sale on AutoTrader, from a dealer in Guildford (I traded in at a garage in Sheffield).
So, I'll miss the car, we've had some great holidays in it and I don't regret buying it.
Good luck to all Antara owners, and thanks to those of you who've helped out in the past.
