After many down days of thinking had I done the right thing by buying my Antara, I booked it into my local vauxhall dealer to see if they can find anything wrong due to low MPG and power loss. After being with them for a whole day, they came back with loads of faults codes and advised that the supplying dealer deal with the faults. Main problem is to do with the turbo, manifold or the turbo vacuum system. So after contacting the supplying dealer who I have a 3 year warranty with, (its been back to them twice and had the eco and gearbox reprogrammed), they brought me a loan car and have taken the Antara away. After them test driving the car, they have agreed it has a major power loss and have looked into the problem. First they said it was a bad earth not allowing the full current to reach the turbo sensors, so they fixed that. They test drove it again, just as bad. So today I have been told, they getting another car of the same spec from another of their dealers, to compare the set up. Also they have a tech coming from Vauxhall HQ, to try and help sort the problem. They are now saying it could be anything, auto box, torque converter, manifold, no compression, etc etc. So hopefully within the next 2 weeks, I will have a car that will work the way it should and have better power and better MPG. If not I will be demanding another car like for like. Fingers crossed. Thanks for everyone help and advise over the past 6 months since I have had the car.

An interesting update, thank you, on what seems to be an escalating problem. On the basis that there was nothing wrong with the money you paid for the car is it possible to seek a permanent replacement vehicle on a like-for-like basis and then let the experts investigate the problem(s) at their leisure and without any further inconvenience to you? It sounds as if everyone is being reasonable over this, but at the end of the day you are the customer.
