I know they are many many topics about this but Im still convinced something is wrong with my Antara. Its a 2012 2.2 se auto 163 bhp. On my previous messages, I have been advised to try different things. So yesterday I put them all together, as I was travelling from Bath to Manchester and back in 1 day. Filled the car up before I left with Esso Synergy Advanced Diesel, ensured the tyres were inflated to towing pressures, had the car in Ecco mode and stuck to 70 mph on the motorway, with cruise control. On my return home after doing just under 400 miles, I had 30 miles left in the tank and the computer on the car showing just 22mpg.. This is terrible Mpg, is anyone else with the same spec car getting the same MPG. Its been back to Vauxhall, had both the engine and gearbox ecu's reprogrammed but it doesn't seem to make any difference. Its booked into another Vauxhall dealer next week, to see if they can find out whats wrong.

Hi Tonky,
Assuming that you brimmed the tank before setting off, 400 miles on a 14.3 gallon tank works out at around 28mpg (if I have got my maths right). Could be nearer 30 as you had at least a gallon left in the tank.

Based on a 13 gallon fill up, 400 miles gives about 28mpg.
That's all I get from my auto 4x4 too 😵

Same here I get 21 to 23 mpg when towing and 26 to 28 mpg
The Antara weight is
Gross Vehicle Weight: 2,345kg
Max. Towing Weight - Braked: 2,000kg
Max. Towing Weight - Unbraked: 750kg
Max. Loading Weight: 449kg
With a 2.200 cc turbo charged Diesel engine with automatic transmission I don't think that the mpg is that bad yes we would all like more mpgThe manual model does give more mpg but I like the auto so have to sacrifice the extra mpg
If you want better mpg you then have to go for a smaller suv with a 1500cc engine or equivalent.
that will give you say another approximately 10 mpg
But that don't do the same job the Antara does or for what it was made for for Edited by: Bigjohnsparky

150 miles round trip (solo) on M25/M1 at speeds between 40 - 65 mph because of traffic conditions returned 36.2 mpg. I change gear to suit around 2000 rpm and never use cruise control: it wastes fuel. I have always run on Shell Regular diesel.

And that's the difference between a 2wd manual and a 4x4 auto 😵
