Well for Black Friday I got my request for a new keyless 13mm chuck for my drill. I'm trying to convert my battery powered impact wrench to a drill for the heavier duty stuff, got two 18V battery packs with it as opposed to my single 14V one for my lighter weight drill. I've got a bit of work to do though.

I've tried googling for a 1/2" drive (as in 1/2" socket drive) keyless chuck but all I get is regular keyless chucks with a capacity of 1/2" or 13mm or whatever so it looks like I'm going to have to make it. I got an SDS adapter with the chuck so I'm thinking of cutting down a socket and getting it welded to the SDS adapter then I should be able to use my impact wrench as a drill. Or am I wasting my time, has anyone seen something that can be bought over the counter so that I can ask for it for my Christmas?

BJS, you've come through once again! The Cowan chuck is exactly what I want, found I could get one here for about £25 plus £26 delivery from the US but I have someone in the US right now so he's bringing me one back ($25) next week.

Seems one of the problems with them is the chuck tightens up if you put too much pressure on it when drilling concrete etc so found a video by the inventor who shows the right way to release the chuck if it does.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7MQf1s2ys4
