Just on the M4 on my way to work when a huge plume of blue smoke comes out of the back, engine management light come on and all power goes.

Managed to coast to the hard shoulder to wait for the RAC. He plugs in the computer - whole load of faults ping up which he says wouldn't relate to the issue. Waiting for flatbed now to take us to Vauxhall's.

Now for the cold wait to get to Vx, then no doubt a longer wait to get whatever bad news is in store for me...

Hi Victor, it's a 2012 diesel SE (manual) with just a shade over 30k on the clocks. We bought it second hand at 18 months old so manufacturers warranty had expired.

Had problems with the fuse box melting earlier in the year and now this. Thinking I've bought a lemon that was put together during the Friday afternoon shift at the factory!!

I have a feeling that all Antaras are built on a Friday afternoon.
Hope its not too expensive.

My wife says that I never listen or something like that !

Bit of an update and follow up for those of you that are interested...

Car was in with main dealer for a few days, they initially couldn't get it started normally so 'forced' it to start (I didn't want to ask about their methods!) - apparently black smoke flew out for a minute or two then everything was running as normal!

I'm really not sure what to think of this, it's not normal for a problem to resolve itself and not give any more hassle! Have I got lucky or is this signs of bigger problems to come in the future?!

On the plus side, my last experience with the dealer wasn't too great (which I reminded the service manager of when I dropped off the car) and there was no charge when I picked the car up after a few days.

To get it started they squirted a fluid in it to make it start .not sure what they call it .but acts like fuel I think they
Squirt it down the air intake you can find it being used on you tube

Easy start or either, I think. It fires under compression.
